Badass Herstory Embroidery Workshop with Badass Cross Stitch

You can still join us tonight! Give us a call 336-893-8516 or come to the shop a little early to register.

Badass Cross Stitch is in town and she's coming to stitch with us and introduce everyone to her craftivism project: Badass Herstory.

This community project focuses on the lived experiences and narratives of women and non-binary folks around the world. She will introduce us to her project and help support us in developing our ideas. If you don't know how to embroider...she will teach you! If you do know, you can get started on your piece in community with other artists and makers or just work on something you are excited about. It's a guaranteed good time. AND if you get your final pieces to her by October 15th they will be included in an exhibition at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia this winter!

All are welcome to participate in the workshop. Please note that the submission to the official badass HERstory exhibit is only open to women, women-identified, and gender non-binary folks.

All ages are welcome to participate in the workshop. Children under the age of 12 should have an adult attend the workshop with them. Please note that embroidery uses sharp needles.

Included with the workshop is a 13x13" piece of fabric and embroidery floss.

Instructor: Shannon Downey
Instructor Bio: Shannon is an artist, activist, craftivist, community builder, and general instigator. She blends her politics, activism, and art into projects that are designed to inspire others to take action, think, discuss, engage with democracy and their community, and find some digital/analog balance. She creates art to inspire other people to create art. She is queer, anti-racist, feminist, anti-capitalist, highly political, and committed to growth, learning, honesty, and doing whatever she can to make this an equitable world. Her art generally tackles what she calls the big three systems of oppression: white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism. She is nomadic, living in my R.V. and traveling the U.S.
