Learning how to Quilt - Curved Piecing with the Clava Quilt

Learn the basics of quilting and curved piecing while making a baby-sized Clava Quilt Top

Does curved piecing scared you? This class is for you!

Are you new to quilting and didn't even know that curves scare people but love this design? This class is for you, too!

Want to have some fun and sew in community? This class is for you, too!

CLAVA by Miss Make is a celestial-inspired quilt reminiscent of moon phases, with a repeated sequence of differently sized crescent shapes creating lots of striking movement. Clava is named after the Clava Cairns, a Bronze Age site outside Inverness in Scotland built with very precise astronomical positioning.

Required Supplies:

  • Clava Quilt Pattern
  • Fabric for colors 1, 2, 3, 4, & background fabric*
  • Neutral Cotton Thread for piecing
  • A working sewing machine
Optional and helpful Supplies: Pins, fabric scissors, rotary cutter, seam ripper.

*You'll have time in class to make the baby quilt layout, but you will gain the skills to continue to working on your quilt top at home if you want to go larger. The focus of this class is making the quilt top, however an overview of the next steps needed to complete your quilt will also be demonstrated.
