Beachcomber Jacket Sew Along with Sharon

Come and Join VFS Instructor Sharon Clarke and learn how to fit and sew the Beachcomber, a timeless and stylish jacket. 

The perfect jacket for all of your adventures! The Beachcomber is a lined jacket with patch pockets and options for a hood or collar. The front can be fastened with snaps or buttons. The sleeve hems are brought in with elastic for a comfortable and flexible fit. The hem is faced and slightly curved for a cool look and feel!

This is a unisex pattern and can be adapted for many body types. Please note: the sizes run large and the sleeves run long. Make sure you refer to the pattern size charts and measure your body before you cut your pattern and fabric.

Please note: this is a multi level class and each participant will be working at their own pace.
The main focus of this class is fit and construction, however if you are not comfortable measuring and cutting your pattern out before the class, please feel free to get measured and cut your pattern during class or stop by the shop for additional help and support. 

This class is designed for the advanced beginner and intermediate sewists. This class is not suitable for sewing your first garment, but if you have made a garment or two before - this class is for you!

Supplies needed for class: 

• Beachcomber Jacket Pattern - available at VFS
• WASHED jacket weight fabric + lining fabric in the yardage for your size: The Beachcomber Jacket is designed for mid-heavy weight woven fabrics. Denim, twill, and canvas are great options. For the lining you will want to choose something light - mid weight that feels good on your skin.
• 1 yd. of 1'' elastic
• buttons or snaps (the instructor will have some snaps and a snap setting machine available)
• matching thread 

• Sewing Machine in working order with a new needle. We do have a limited amount of shop machines available for use please call to inquire/reserve before purchasing class.
• Basic sewing supplies (pins, tape, seam gauge, etc.) we have these supplies available for you as well but if you have your favorite tools, bring them along!
