Upcycled Fabric Hoodie
Learn to sew your own hoodie using an upcycled or bulky fabric. You can bring a blanket or quilt. Want to make this hoodie but shop new, our Merchant & Mills Jacquards or out French Terry Knits would be great for this pattern.
We will go over working with garment patterns, placement for upcycling fabrics, how to use a serger, tips and tricks for working with bulky or layered materials to make garments, and create a beautiful one of a kind hoodie.
Supplies Needed:
- Fabric for Hoodie ~equivalent to about 3 yards
- A quilt you want to wear
- Blanket, throw, or coverlet
- Thrifted bedspread or even curtain!
- Not going for the upcycled looked these Merchant & Mills Jacquards or a French Terry would be good options
- You generally want a textile with some weight/bulk and coziness
- PRE-WASH anything the way you will wash your finished garment.
- Coordinating thread- we recommend an all purpose poly thread like these.
- Pattern and pattern paper are included in the cost of the class.
We would be happy helping you select your supplies for this class. Please consider purchasing your class materials from VFS - we offer a 10% discount for class materials.

-Serger, if you have one. We will have several for class to use.
-Pins, fabric shears, snips
If you'd like to use a shop machine please call ahead to let us know so we can reserve one for you.
