Community Clothing Swap 4:00-5:30

Community Clothing Swap and Social at Village Fabric Shop
4:00-5:30 pm on Sunday, May 4th

You know we love reuse, and love helping people make their dream wardrobe. Sometimes you buy pieces that no longer work for you so it's time to pass them along to someone else and trade in something new for yourself! Spring is here and we find it's a great time to clean out your closet. Make a list of items you need, keep the things you love, and bring those pieces that aren’t working for you anymore to the clothing swap! Clothing swaps are a great option to reduce waste and be inspired with fresh looks. Plus, they’re a great way to bring the community together and spend time with friends, old and new!

During: Sorting, Hanging, Organizing 3:45-5:30
Be an extra hand to help people sort and hang up clothing items as  people arrive. You can of course be participating while you're          volunteering.

After: Sorting items to be donated: 5:30-6:30
We usually have many items that don’t find homes that we donate to non-profits. Stay after to help sort into Dress For Success, Shalom Project, and Goodwill piles.

Bring quality clothes you no longer want. (10 items MAX)

  • You don’t have to bring 10 items, that's the max, bringing 2-3 is totally fine.
  • Keep it adult clothing--no shoes, jewelry, baby clothes, etc.
  • Since we are a fabric store, people have brought hand made clothing before, this isn’t a hand made swap, but you're welcome to bring whatever you want to let go.
  • Bring Quality well-maintained items (no stains, tears, pilling, broken, etc.) – things that you would want to receive if it was new-to-you.
  • No limits on how much you can take, but please take only what sparks joy and actually fits you or you can alter. It helps to ask a fellow swapper for their opinion if you’re unsure about how something looks.
  • It's great to bring your clothes in a bag, and then use that bag to take home your new to you clothes.
  • Wear leggings and tank top so it's easy to try on clothes.
    • We don’t have a lot of private space, just one small bathroom, so wearing things you can try clothes on over is helpful
  • No limits on how much you can take, but please take only what sparks joy and actually fits you or you can alter. It helps to ask a fellow swapper for their opinion if you’re unsure about how something looks.
  • After the swap, we'll donate all leftover items to a non-profit organization. The past three years we have donated to Dress For Success and the Shalom Project

FAQs
1. Is this event for handmade clothes?

-No! Of course, you are welcome to bring me made clothing if you'd like, but the majority of clothing will be store brought.

2. Can I only take the number of clothes that I bring?

-You can take whatever is sparking joy for you. We don't limit the number of items a person can take. Our only rule is be kind.

3. Can I take clothes if I don't bring anything?

-This is a swap, so ideally you are bringing in items before you take anything. We have had people come in who didn't know the swap       was happening so didn't bring anything. This year towards the end of the swap if you didn't bring anything but would like to take clothing we will ask for a $5/item donation, that we will give to the Shalom Project Clothing Closet.
