More about Arts for Life

Arts For Life is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting pediatric patients and families through arts education and engagement. By providing
educational art programs, they enrich patient’s lives, nurture their minds and spirits, and encourage positive healthcare experiences for children and their families. They currently help children in three chapter communities across North Carolina.

Kelsey, one of the owners of the shop, shares a little about her story and why we choose Arts For Life to benefit:

Arts for Life is near and dear to my heart and what brought me to Winston-Salem in the first place! Having never visited WS before, I took a new position in the fall of 2015 with Arts For Life at Brenner Children's Hospital. I had been volunteering with the non-profit at Asheville Children's Hospital for a few years and saw how special Arts For Life's mission is to patients and families. At Brenner I worked as the inpatient Program Coordinator, primarily on the Hematology-Oncology unit. I saw everyday the JOY art brought to people in the toughest times. Creating art gives patients, siblings, moms, dads, and others a moment to breathe, relax, and not think. The pandemic interrupted what the day-to-day looked like at Arts For Life and ultimately led me to be able to open Village Fabric Shop with Nicole. The joy and lightness of creating carries over to what Village Fabric Shop is here for. We strive to be a source of great materials that inspire people to create, celebrate craft traditions, and connect with others. Though I miss hanging out with the kids at Brenner's, I'm so grateful that Arts For Life is there, everyday, and that we are supporting them through this fun event!
