Open Studio Sew Night with Support

We have scheduled time to help you with all your sewing desires this May!

Patrick Bingham is one of new instructors here at VFS and we are excited to open the floor to him to help you with all your sewing needs.

This open sew is perfect for you if:

  • You have a project you're working on but not the confidence to do the next step on your own.
  • Need accountability to finish that thing you've been working on!
  • Want to meet other sewists and makers.
  • Need help with learning something new on your machine.
  • Want to brainstorm with others fun ideas and projects
This is an open studio sew night with support! You must have taken machine sewing 101 or know how to use a sewing machine to sign up. We will support and guide you on a project and as questions come up with your project.

Bring your work(s) in progress and hang out as we craft together.

  • Where: Village Fabric Shop
  • When: Thursday May 18th from 4:00pm - 7:30pm (You do not need to come the entire time if that's not available for you)
  • What to Bring: A project to work on. If you need to purchase something at the shop that night you can, but people may be using the cutting table for projects, so please be mindful. We will have basic sewing tools (irons, pins, etc.) available. Please bring or purchase any supplies you need. Bring your own machine or call the shop before class to use one of ours).

Ages 16+

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: All skill levels are welcome but you must feel comfortable operating a sewing machine to sign up.
Instructor: Patrick Bingham
Instructor Bio: Patrick Bingham originally hails from Richmond, Virginia, but has spent time living in DC, London, and Phoenix. His interests in patternmaking developed from an initial frustration at the onset of the pandemic in 2020 where a lack of masks and costly alternatives drove him to sewing. In that time, he developed his skillset via Arizona State University?s brilliant fashion program, where he undertook courses in garment construction, flat patternmaking, digital patternmaking and technical design. It was there he developed a love for clothing engineering and a vision for helping industry and home sewers in their design to pattern process.
