A tailor's clapper helps achieve crisp, flat, and well-pressed seams. These are handmade clappers, made especially for Village Fabric Shop.  A perfect gift for any sewist in your life (including yourself!)

Size: 10 inches long, 2 to 3 inches wide, 1 3/4 inches thick.
Weight: 14.3oz / 406g

The top is rounded over for comfortable handling  with a grove in the sides for easy holding. The bottom is unfinished so the clapper can work as intended. The bottom of a clapper is smooth and flat.

It is designed to be place on top on a freshly pressed seam to absorb and distribute heat and heat evenly. The good weight of our clapper allows adequate pressure to be applied to the seam.

How to use:

1. After using an iron to press a seam open or to the side, place the clapper directly on top of the seam while it's still hot. Leave it place for a few seconds or until the fabric is cooled.

2. The weight of the clapper with the heat from the iron set the seam and crease, making it crisp and flat.

3. Wood absorbs extra moisture and heat, enhancing the seams look and durability.

Uses:

Great for working with fabrics like wool, linen, and cotton, as they help create sharp edges and smooth seams. They are a valuable tool in achieving professional-looking and well-finished garments.

The clapper can flatten bulky facing, a collar edge, pleats, even button holes
